About Alfa Laval HIUs
Alfa Laval is a Swedish engineering group and one of the largest heat interface unit manufacturers in the world. Its reputation was built on plate heat exchanger technology, and that shows in its HIUs — the Micro and Mini ranges are built around compact brazed plate exchangers that deliver strong performance in a small footprint.
That compact design is a genuine strength and a maintenance consideration at the same time. Tightly spaced brazed plates transfer heat very efficiently, but they also leave less room for limescale before performance drops away. In London’s hard water areas, Alfa Laval units reward consistent annual descaling and suffer noticeably when it is skipped.
We service and repair Micro STC2, Micro DPC, Mini Plus, Mini Eco and Mini City units, plus the wider Alfa Laval substation range. If you are not sure which unit you have, send us a photo of the data plate and we will identify it.
What We Fix
- Brazed plate heat exchanger descaling — the most common Alfa Laval service item in London

- Thermostatic and electronic control faults across the Micro and Mini ranges
- Actuator failure on heating and hot water circuits
- Primary strainer cleaning and blockage removal
- Temperature sensor faults causing incorrect modulation
- Low delta T investigation — heat returning to the building unused
- Full annual Alfa Laval HIU service with written report
